Ramping it up…going for distance

With the Smiths Falls tri successfully behind me time to look at a new challenge. I want to continue to push myself this year. With that in mind I have signed up for the Brockville Triathlon for the Olympic Distance.  1.5km swim, 40km bike then a 10km run. The swim will be interesting but not too worried about it and hope to continue my efforts on the bike and place well there again. That brings up the problem of the 10k run. Now I have been able to pick up the pace on running a bit and a 5k is coming easier now, and I think by the time of this event I should have a decent run time (well, by decent I mean not 100% embarrassing!). Still just signing up for the sprint tri again seemed redundant.

And that is the crux of the matter.

You need to find things to push yourself to the next level. Find somebody faster, and event you don’t think you can do, a distance that seems too far. Then reach it, then go for the next.

The tri is August 14th, that gives me a month at a time when I am already in the best shape of the past 15 years, and the summer is here so I can ratchet it up! Stay tuned to see how it goes.
